Palm Sunday

Today, as we remember Palm Sunday the day Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a humble donkey and was welcomed as a King we are reminded not just of His triumph, but of His purpose.

Let me tell you a story about a baby lamb.

A little lamb was born in the fields just outside Jerusalem. Small, soft, innocent this lamb had never known fear, had never wandered far from its mother. It trusted. It followed. It simply was. And in this little lamb, we see a picture of Jesus: pure, gentle, and without blemish.

In the time of Jesus, lambs were brought to the temple for sacrifice. The people knew the lamb represented innocence offered in place of guilt. Year after year, lambs were led through the city gates toward the temple, unaware of what lay ahead.

Now picture this: on that first Palm Sunday, another Lamb was coming through the gates not led by a rope, but riding on a donkey. The people cheered, waving palm branches, crying “Hosanna!” “Save us now!” But unlike the baby lambs, this Lamb knew what lay ahead. He knew He would lay down His life.

Jesus was not just a King riding into His city. He was the Lamb of God, come to take away the sin of the world.

And like the baby lamb, we are called to trust. To follow. To walk close to the Shepherd who laid down His life for us.

So what does the baby lamb teach us this Palm Sunday?

1. Innocence is powerful. Jesus came not with force, but with purity.

2. Trust leads the way. Like the lamb, we walk by faith, even when the path is unclear.

3. Sacrifice brings salvation. The Lamb of God did not fight the cross—He embraced it for love of us.

Let this Palm Sunday remind you: the cheering crowd welcomed a King, but the heavens watched as the Lamb of God walked toward the cross—for you.

Hosanna. Blessed is the Lamb who comes in the name of the Lord.

Your King is coming,

John 12:15, NLT
